Medical Negligence and Personal Injury Lawyer – Full or Part Time – Amesbury [or possibly Andover] office

Are you looking for the opportunity to work with an exciting and progressive firm which continues to grow? We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated lawyer to join us to conduct a caseload of medical negligence and personal injury work.

The right candidate will be able to show;

  • at least 4 years’ experience of medical negligence and personal injury cases
  • the ability to run a caseload unsupervised – though as part of a supportive specialist team
  • good organisational and excellent IT skills
  • good time management skills
  • high standards of customer care
  • a current driving licence and access to a car as our compensation claims workload is not just local but regional – and you would be expected, from time to time, to travel to see clients, especially if they are unable to travel themselves.

In addition, the following abilities are useful though not essential;

  • the ability to conduct general litigation
  • experience of using a case management system
  • It’s also important that the successful candidate has the ability to be largely self-supporting, with some limited administrative support– if either the candidate can type their own correspondence and much of their other work, or will enthusiastically adopt the use of voice-activated software for typing

The job is suitable for a an experienced lawyer – but qualifications are not absolutely essential. The right experience and genuine ability is what we are really looking for.

The team?

You will be part of a three strong [currently all solicitors] specialist medical negligence and personal injury team headed by Denise Broomfield, a member of both the AvMA and Law Society Clinical Negligence panels. There are only around hundred 80 solicitors in the country on both of these highly regarded panels.

The caseload?

Currently over half of our work involves medical negligence claims but the type of work you will be expected to handle will depend on your experience. So for example, if you are a less experienced lawyer with more extensive personal injury, we can rearrange the team to accommodate you. Alternatively, if your experience is predominantly medical negligence, you should expect the majority of your caseload to involve those type of claims.

In other words, to a certain extent we can build the work load around the candidate.

If you are a personal injury/medical negligence specialist with no experience of general litigation, then you should expect your caseload to consist of purely accident and medical claims and you will be based at our Amesbury office.

However if you have the ability to run a general litigation caseload as well, then we will consider placing you at our Andover office.

NB despite the likely introduction of fixed fees for medical negligence claims next year, we remain committed to this area of law and believe that quality claims of this type will continue to be profitable

Full-time or part-time?

The current holder of this position, (who has sadly been headhunted by a large firm) works four days a week. We are confident however that the firm’s current personal injury and medical negligence workload will continue to grow, but  in order to get the right candidate on board, we are happy to be flexible on hours if necessary.

However we are equally happy to take on full-time applicants.

Salary?

Market rate – dependent on the accessible candidate’s qualification and experience

Solicitor – Head of Private Client Team – Full or Part Time – Salisbury

Are you looking for the opportunity to head up the wills and probate team of an exciting and progressive firm which continues to grow?

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated solicitor to join our wills and probate team in beautiful Salisbury.

Qualifications
The job is suitable for an experienced private client solicitor with a minimum of five years PQE.

A thorough understanding of the law and practice surrounding private client taxation and trusts is absolutely essential.

Previous management experience, while useful, is not essential.

The role
In a relatively short period, provided that the candidate shows suitable leadership and management skills, we would hope that the successful candidate would become head of the five strong private client team.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience of all aspects of private client work including Probate, Will drafting, Trusts, Power of  Attorney and Court of Protection Work including the following;

  • management of large and complex cases of Wills, Probate, Tax, Trusts and Settlements – including aspects of international property
  • advice on tax planning and preparation of Income Tax Returns
  • drafting Wills including complex trusts
  • all aspects of estate administration
  • preparation of final estate accounts and distributions
  • tracing beneficiaries
  • dealing with relevant regulators including Financial Ombudsman Service and Legal Ombudsman
  • drafting deeds of variation
  • drafting and registering registered Enduring and Lasting Powers of Attorney
  • dealing with Court of Protection matters
  • drafting Oaths, HMRC accounts, preparing deeds of variation and Income Tax Returns

The successful candidate

The right candidate will have;

  • at least 5 years’ experience of wills, probate, trusts, private client tax and asset management
  • confidence and the ability to react to change whilst working within a pressurised environment.

Legal Secretary – litigation team – Full Time – Salisbury

HOURS:

9.00am to 5.15pm

MAIN ROLE:

Secretarial (70%) and Paralegal (30%) support for the Litigation Team

DUTIES OF THE POST:

  • Working for two full time fee earners
  • Assisting other part-time fee earners with invoicing, file opening and communication with clients
  • Word process legal correspondence using audio transcription equipment or digital transcription equipment and software using the house style and accepted legal conventions
  • Sending out documents
  • Opening files and creating new matters on the client database
  • Maintain, organise and archive files; finding files as required

Support Staff – Secretaries

We are actively recruiting to our bank of ‘temp’ secretaries.

We are particularly interested in secretaries who can cover annual leave or sickness in our Andover office. For this role, candidates should have legal experience and have worked in a Family Department.

For our other offices we are looking for secretaries who can cover absence in either Salisbury or Amesbury. You should have solid secretarial experience and ideally some exposure to a legal environment.

These roles are paid on an hourly or daily basis and are ideally suited to people who want to work flexibly.
