Legal Update Issue 45, December 2011

Welcome to our 45th newsletter.

What's new this month? Firstly we welcome employment solicitor Nik Goodridge to our expanded 3 person employment law team. Nik specialises in acting for employers only – click on the link below to find more about her. We also feature our latest microsite – Trade Mark UK (you did realise that we have a highly specialist trademark attorney working alongside us in sister business Mears Morgan- offering city quality trade mark advice at local prices – didn't you?).

On the legal front, there is a clarification of the implications of the removal of the default retirement age in October, and information on how health and safety rules apply to homeworkers.

Happy Christmas.

Kind regards,
Tim Bishop

Except for a few employers who have elected to objectively justify a retirement age, compulsory retirement at any age is now unlawful.
