Free Advice Event for Start-Up Businesses

BONALLACK & BISHOP - SALISBURY LAWYERS - PRESS RELEASE
13th MAY 2009
FREE ADVICE EVENT FOR START-UP BUSINESSES

Are you starting a business? Or is anybody you know? Tuesday 30th June 2009 sees Salisbury's first business start-up fair at the Grasmere House Hotel. This free and innovative event is aimed at anyone thinking of starting up their own business, those who are in the process of starting up and those businesses which have not yet progressed beyond the start-up stage. The event offers those attending the chance to have free, 10 minute, one-to-one advice slots from a variety of local businesses and organisations that are all highly experienced in advising start-ups. There is also the opportunity to attend any of a series of short seminars full of practical advice for start-up businesses that will running at the same time in an adjoining room.

The unique event is being co-ordinated by Salisbury law firm Bonallack & Bishop, who will be providing free legal advice on a variety of topics as well as presenting seminars, alongside the other participants, start-up specialist accountants Rawlence and Browne, the Inland Revenue, Business Link, web designers Cravenplan, marketing company Thomas Winter Associates, bankers HSBC and business and telecommunications advice company SME Advice (part of the Future Reliance Group). The fair is supported by Salisbury Chamber of Commerce.

Bonallack & Bishop senior partner Tim Bishop commented, “We are really excited by this event which has already generated considerable interest. Sadly the recession is resulting in an increase in unemployment and we believe that a significant number of those who lose their jobs will take the opportunity to set up business on their own.

Anybody wanting practical advice about how to start up a business can come along and get exactly what they want from the event – whether it be advice from a lawyer about renting commercial property, tips from an accountant on getting financial issues right from day one or help with tax and VAT topics from the Inland Revenue themselves – all under one roof. We would advise anyone interested in coming to book their place in advance, and to secure advice slots and seminar places early on – there are only limited places and we believe these will be taken up quickly. Alternatively, having booked a place at the fair, you can choose on the day who you would like to have a one-to-one with, provided all the advice slots haven't already been taken! The event runs from 5:30–8pm, so even if you can't get there until later on there is still plenty of time to speak to the adviser of your choice.”
