The challenges we faced in Bonallack and Bishop Solicitors were exactly the same as any other business. This was a revelation and it wasn’t until I started attending Vector meetings that I realised just how many common themes there were. As a result, the workshops and working on fellow members’ strategic Vector plans have given me much more than I could ever get in any other way. I’ve done my degrees, my MBA, I’ve read every relevant book and I’ve talked to fellow business people ad nauseum. But there’s nothing quite like when a Vector group comes together to work on individual strategic plans and collectively mentoring each others’ plans; it’s when the whole really is greater than the sum of its parts. It’s quite difficult to capture the excitement and the best way is to experience it yourself.
Tim Bishop, senior partner, began this adventure a couple of years ago. Since then, our business has changed shape quite radically. We realised that we were heading in the direction which would not give us the level of growth that we wanted to achieve. It wasn’t wrong, it was just Good and not Great. And we wanted to be Great. We’ve addressed our cost base, the engagement with our people, niche market identification, key market strategies and many, many other vital things to get our business and our selves into shape. The changes it has brought to me personally are huge, giving me the confidence to know that the radical actions I’m taking are not only the right ones but that I have the backing of my fellow Vector members who always there if I need to talk things through.
You can see I am a big fan. So much so, that we began to extend the Vector groups and I now am the group leader for V4. But whilst I can tell you all about this, there’s nothing better than coming along and seeing for yourself. And don’t tell me that you’re too busy, because we all start that way. Many of our members attend because they want to free themselves up from the day-to-day and start working on the business and not in the business. Vector will arm you with the strategies that will get you to wherever you want to be.
