Residential Property Vacancy – Andover Office

Are you looking for the opportunity to work with an exciting and progressive firm which continues to grow? We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated lawyer to join our increasingly busy CQS accredited residential property team.

Qualifications
The job is suitable for a residential property lawyer with a minimum of 3 years PQE or equivalent.

The successful candidate
The right candidate will have;

  • At least 3 years’ experience of residential conveyancing work
  • A thorough understanding of the law and practice surrounding conveyancing
  • The confidence and the ability to react to change whilst working within a pressurised environment
  • The ability to be an enthusiastic team player, with great people skills
  • Good organisational, time management and IT skills
  • The ability to multi-task under pressure
  • A keen eye for detail
  • Excellent standards of client care and great communication skills
  • A history of strong billing
  • A desire and the ability to help in the growth of the residential property department

Work type
Our conveyancing is good quality work– we don’t buy in cheap residential conveyancing. Clients come to us, and our referrers refer to us, because we are good at what we do – and they know we care about them.

According to Land Registry figures, we are among the top 350 firms nationwide handling the most amount of conveyancing work, and 2018 saw us handle more residential conveyancing work than ever before. Not bad for a rural family owned firm in a depressed housing market!

The team?
Overall you will be part of a 22 strong property team.

Useful, but not essential, attributes

  • Experience of using a case management system for property work
  • The ability to bring referral sources with you

Flexible working
We offer flexible working if required – many of our lawyers routinely work from home, for example. We are more concerned with output than input – what we are really looking for is quality work, highly satisfied clients and great billing.

Salary?
Market rate – dependent on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience

How to apply
Email Senior Partner Tim Bishop at tim.bishop@bishopslaw.com with an accompanying letter and your CV.

Family Lawyer or Family/Civil Litigation Mix – Amesbury Office

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated lawyer to join our Amesbury office.

There are two alternative positions. Either:

  • Family Lawyer – Part Time
  • Family and Civil Litigation Lawyer – Full Time or Part Time

The role
The job is suitable for an experienced family lawyer with a minimum of 2 years PQE – or the equivalent.

The family work is 100% private client – we do not take on legal aid work. As a result the successful candidate will need solid experience with regard to divorce and in particular ancillary relief and pensions.

Experience of military divorce would be helpful – a significant part of the family team’s caseload is military divorce in which we have considerable specialist experience, for clients both locally and nationwide.

Experience in using a case management system for family law cases would also be useful, though not essential.

The successful candidate
The right candidate will have;

  • a minimum of at least 2 years’ experience of divorce and family law and, if relevant, civil litigation
  • the ability to work unsupervised, as part of a team
  • the confidence and the ability to react to change whilst working within a pressurised environment.
  • good organisational and excellent IT skills
  • a keen eye for detail
  • excellent standards of client care and great communication skills
  • the ability to be an excellent biller
  • a desire and the ability to help in the growth of the firm and the  Amesbury office in particular
  • the ability to run our free drop-in family law surgery every Wednesday afternoon at the Amesbury office

Niche area of law?
As a firm, we are very keen on developing specialist niche areas of law. So if you already have, or want to develop, a niche area of practice, we would love to hear about it.

Flexible working
We offer flexible working if required – many of our lawyers routinely work from home, for example. We are more concerned with output than input – what we are really looking for is quality work, highly satisfied clients and great billing.

Salary
Market rate – dependent on the successful candidate’s qualification and experience
