REMOTE WORKERS – please note that while some of our vacancies are entirely suitable for remote lawyers, we will only consider applications for these legal jobs from candidates who have already had experience of purely home working for law firms.

Litigation Lawyer – hybrid or office based – FULLY REMOTE working also available

Are you looking for the opportunity to work with an exciting and progressive firm which continues to grow? We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated experienced lawyer to join our busy dispute resolution team, and possibly take over the role of Department Head. The position is available to both solicitors and CILEX legal executives.

The successful candidate
The right candidate will have :

  • at least 4 years’ solid experience of litigation work
  • desire to help in the growth of the litigation department
  • great people skills and will be an enthusiastic team player
  • good organisational. time management and IT skills
  • high standards of customer care
  • a history of strong billing

The job is suitable for a solicitor with genuine ability and proven experience.

Experience as Head of Department previously is useful but not essential.

So, if you are a confident, well-presented, friendly and approachable lawyer with excellent communication skills, we want to hear from you.

The job

Initially, the job will broadly replace an existing lawyer’s caseload of mainly civil with some more limited commercial litigation work – with the current caseload split broadly as follows;

  • Contested probate claims  – 70%
  • Other commercial and civil litigation, including professional negligence and construction disputes – 30%

It does not involve dealing with personal injury and medical negligence work (we have 2 other experienced solicitors dealing with that work exclusively).

The dispute resolution department includes an existing team of 2 other litigation lawyers, and a paralegal, dealing exclusively with property disputes.

Head of our dispute resolution team
A Head of Department role is available for the right candidate.

Developing additional niche work
We love niches – areas where we can develop genuinely specialist areas of law to completely outshine the opposition regionally and even nationwide.

If you have a niche area of law you have developed or would like to develop in addition to the existing workload, we would love to talk to you about it.

Location
The job is currently based at our Salisbury office, and that is our preference – with very flexible hybrid working,  although working out of either our Amesbury, Andover or Fordingbridge branch is also possible. However, we are happy to consider fully remote working for the right candidate.

Many of our lawyers routinely work from home. We are more concerned with output than input – what we are really looking for is quality work, highly satisfied clients and great billing.

Salary?
Market rate – dependent on the successful candidate’s qualification and experience.

How to apply
Sound good? If you’re interested in the job, email Senior Partner Tim Bishop at tim.bishop@bishopslaw.com with an accompanying letter and your CV.

Probate Lawyer – Salisbury, Andover or Fordingbridge offices – Full or Part Time. Hybrid working available

Are you looking for the opportunity to work with an exciting and progressive firm which continues to grow? We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated probate lawyer to join our private client team.

Qualifications?

The job is suitable for an experienced probate lawyer. Whilst this might be a solicitor, it can also include a legal executive or even a non-qualified probate clerk. What this alternative role does require is solid experience and an ability to deal with plenty of probate, without supervision. Wills, LPAs and Trusts would not necessarily need to be part of this person’s work.

So, if you are a confident, well-presented, well-organised, friendly and approachable probate lawyer with excellent communication skills, we want to hear from you.

The successful candidate

The right candidate will be a probate specialist with the following;

  • at least 3 years’ experience of probate. Solid experience of will writing and lasting powers of attorney are not essential – though would be useful.
  • confidence and the ability to react to change whilst working within a pressurised environment.
  • good organisational and excellent IT skills
  • a keen eye for detail
  • excellent standards of client care and great communication skills
  • the ability to be an excellent biller
  • the ability to work well as part of a team

Although it is not a requirement of the job, and we suspect that it is unlikely that the successful candidate will have it, knowledge of trusts, along with experience of inheritance tax and family wealth would be really good – and depending on the experience of the candidate, we may be prepared to train them to assist in this high quality and rapidly expanding area of the firm’s work.

The work?
The 14 strong private client team deal with the usual variety of High Street wills, probate and lasting powers of attorney with some Court of Protection work – mainly for local clients.

The existing caseload for this particular post is approximately 90% probate with some wills and LPAs, although those wills and LPAs can, if necessary be handled by other members of the team.

However, the firm is also rapidly growing an increasing amount of trusts, inheritance tax and family wealth planning work for clients both locally and nationwide. We expect that our highly specialist and experienced trusts and family wealth solicitor will reach capacity sometime later this year. So enthusiasm for gradually taking on this kind of work would be a bonus, although it is not essential. Previous experience of this work would again be useful, but if not, training is available in this niche area.

Full or part-time?
The job is available on a full-time basis but we are also happy to look at candidates who are looking to work for the equivalent of 3 or 4 days per week.

Flexible working
We offer flexible working if required – many of our lawyers routinely work from home, for example. We are more concerned with output than input – what we are really looking for is quality work, highly satisfied clients and great billing.

So, hybrid working is available for this role – fully remote working is NOT.

And the hybrid position is very flexible and genuinely hybrid – for example, if they were able to cover both the Salisbury and Fordingbridge offices, we would need them in the Salisbury Office no more than say a maximum of 35 days a year and for Fordingbridge a max of 25 days a year. And that is a maximum – if they didn’t need to come in so often for client meetings, they wouldn’t need to – though course they would more than welcome to do so. And they would need not to be for the whole of the day – and one day might include a trip to both Salisbury and Fordingbridge.

Salary
Market rate – dependent on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience.

How to apply
Email Senior Partner Tim Bishop at tim.bishop@bishopslaw.com with an accompanying letter and your CV.

2 X Consultant Fee-Sharing Lawyers – (1) Company Commercial and (2) Employment Law

We are looking for 2 enthusiastic and experienced lawyers to work fully remotely, or on a hybrid basis at 1 of our offices, on a part time fee sharing consultancy based.

Both of these legal jobs are suitable for solicitors or legal executives who are able to run files without supervision. Although we have over 70 staff, you will be our only lawyers dealing with these 2 areas of work.

So, if you are a confident, well-presented, friendly and approachable lawyer with excellent communication skills, we want to hear from you.

The successful candidate

The right candidate will have

  • at least 4 years’ solid experience of High Street legal work – either employment law or company/commercial work
  • great people skills and will be an enthusiastic team player
  • good organisational, time management and IT skills
  • the ability to multi-task under pressure
  • a keen eye for detail
  • the confidence and the ability to react to change whilst working within a pressurised environment
  • excellent standards of client care and great communication skills

Your work

While we are perfectly happy for you to bring in your own work, we already have work in these 2 areas of law which we currently have to turn away or refer on. And we are confident that we can grow this work for the successful candidates. But we do not foresee generating enough work for a full-time position.

We have no objection to the successful candidates working for other firms, or as an independent freelancer, in addition to these legal jobs with us.

Our position

We are a successful mid-sized and growing law firm. And much of our existing work is for private clients. However, it is clear that there is considerable scope to grow our work for business clients. So, we are looking for someone to work with Senior Partner, Tim Bishop, and our marketing team to help grow our business law work.

How to apply for these legal jobs
