Dispute Resolution Lawyer – Salisbury, Andover, Amesbury or Fordingbridge offices

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated lawyer to join our busy civil and commercial dispute resolution team.

So, if you are a confident, well-presented, friendly and approachable solicitor, or experienced legal executive, with excellent communication skills, we want to hear from you.

What we are looking for

The successful candidate will have:

·         a professional qualification – either as a solicitor or FILEX qualified legal executive

·         at least 2 years’ PQE dispute resolution experience

·         great people skills and will be an enthusiastic team player

·         good organisational, time management and IT skills and a keen eye for detail

·         the ability to multi-task under pressure

·         the confidence and the ability to react to change whilst working within a pressurised environment

·         excellent standards of client care and great communication skills

·         a history of strong billing

·         a desire and the ability to help in the growth of the department

The job is suitable for a solicitor or legal executive with genuine ability and proven experience.

In addition, a useful, but not essential, attribute would be the ability to handle employment work.

The team
We are busy growing our dispute resolution team around the newly recruited department head – an exceptional solicitor who joined us directly from being Head of Litigation and Equity Partner at a UK Top 100 law firm.

The new team will include 3 litigation lawyers, a trainee solicitor and a paralegal and shared secretary/administrator dealing with a variety of commercial and civil litigation.

The work
The work will be a mix of civil and commercial litigation, and may involve a significant proportion of property disputes, often acting for investors and developers nationwide. This is a niche area which the firm’s specialist Property Investor team continue to build rapidly.

NB the team do not deal or personal injury or medical negligence work (we have 2 other experienced solicitors dealing with those areas exclusively)

Flexible and home working
Flexible and home working is nothing new to us. For the last 10 years or so, many of our lawyers routinely worked from home. And as a result, we were well placed to continue to offer a high level of client care when coronavirus hit, and lockdown was imposed, and we believe we have coped much better adapting to the “new normal” than most law firms.

We are therefore happy to offer flexible working if required. However, this particular role is not suitable for a remote candidate.

We are more concerned with output than input – what we are really looking for is quality legal work, highly satisfied clients and great billing.

Full or Part Time?
Ideally, the job is available full-time. However we are happy to consider part-time working for the right candidate.

Niche areas of legal work?
As a firm, are very keen on developing niche areas of law. So if you already have, or want to develop, a niche area of practice, we would love to hear about it.

Salary?
Market rate, dependent on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience

How to apply
Email Senior Partner Tim Bishop at tim.bishop@bishopslaw.com with an accompanying letter and your CV.

Personal Injury Lawyer – REMOTE WORKING AVAILABLE

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated lawyer to join our medical negligence and personal injury team.

If you are a confident, experienced, well-presented, friendly, and approachable solicitor, legal executive, with excellent communication skills, we want to hear from you

The team
Currently we have 2 experienced solicitors – running medical negligence and mixed personal injury work. We anticipate that our medical negligence work will continue to grow and our current personal injury specialist, who also runs medical negligence claims, will be taking more medical negligence work in the future. We need a PI lawyer to run existing cases and to continue to take on new claimant personal injury work.

The successful candidate
They will;

•      have minimum 2 years experience of personal injury work. Supervision will be available if required.

•      have good organisational and excellent IT skills. Experience of case management systems and IT platforms used in PI work such as the Portal would be an advantage.

•      have a desire to continue growing their experience and legal knowledge

•      have the confidence and the ability to react to change

•      have excellent standards of client care and communication

•      be an enthusiastic team player, with great people skills

 •      have the ability to work under pressure

 •      have a keen eye for detail

Qualifications?
Qualifications are not essential for this particular role. It’s experience and the ability to run a busy mixed caseload of PI work unsupervised, or with minimal supervision, that are important to us.

Full or part-time
The job is available ideally on a full-time, but we will also consider part-time candidates.

Flexible, remote and home working available
The job is available either on a remote working basis, or based at one of our 4 branch offices – Salisbury, Andover, Amesbury and Fordingbridge – or on a hybrid basis.

Flexible and home working is nothing new to us. For the last 10 years or so, many of our lawyers have routinely worked from home. And as a result, we were well placed to continue to offer a high level of client care when coronavirus hit, and lockdown was imposed, and we believe we have coped much better adapting to the “new normal” than most law firms.

We are more concerned with quality output. What we are really looking for is quality legal work, highly satisfied clients and great billing.

Company/Commercial Lawyer – Part-Time – Salisbury, Andover, Amesbury or Fordingbridge offices

We are looking for an enthusiastic experienced company/commercial lawyer.

The job is suitable for a solicitor or a very experienced legal executive with genuine ability and good experience of working in a UK private practice.

So, if you are a confident, well-presented, friendly and approachable lawyer with excellent communication skills, we want to hear from you.

The successful candidate

The right candidate will have

  • at least 4 years’ solid experience of non-contentious commercial work in private practice
  • great people skills and will be an enthusiastic team player
  • good organisational, time management and IT skills
  • the ability to multi-task under pressure
  • a keen eye for detail
  • the confidence and the ability to react to change whilst working within a pressurised environment
  • excellent standards of client care and great communication skills
  • a history of strong billing
  • a desire and the ability to help in the growth of our commercial work

In addition, a useful, but not essential, attribute would be the ability to handle employment work.

The ability to work unsupervised is absolutely essential. This person will be our only company/commercial lawyer, although we do have experienced commercial property and commercial litigation lawyers.

Our position

We are a successful mid-sized and growing law firm and much of our existing work is for private clients. However, it is clear that there is considerable scope to grow our work for business clients. So, we are looking for someone to work with Senior Partner, Tim Bishop, and our marketing team to help grow our business law work.

We already have serious expertise in both commercial property and commercial litigation work. For example, the Head of our Dispute Resolution team is a highly experienced commercial litigator, having been equity partner at top 100 firm, Thrings, for 30 years before joining us.

Building a job around you

To a certain extent, we are happy to build the job around the needs and requirements of the successful candidate – but we anticipate that it could involve flexible working.

Location

Home working, or any one of our 4 branch offices – Salisbury, Andover, Amesbury and Fordingbridge. To make the job work, we expect the successful candidate will need to physically visit our offices from time to time for relationship and team building purposes. However, during lockdown, the role can be 100% home working. Video calls will therefore play an important role if the candidate is not local.

They will, however, need to have excellent broadband to make this work

Part-time

Ideally, we are looking for someone who wants to work for a total of three days a week. That can either be three fixed days or spread throughout the working week.

However, a degree of flexibility, and in particular a willingness to answer urgent queries or new client enquiries outside any formal work period would be extremely useful.

Flexible working

Flexible working is nothing new to us. For the last 10 years or so, many of our lawyers routinely worked from home. And as a result, we were well placed to continue to offer a high level of client care when coronavirus hit and lockdown imposed.

We are more concerned with output than input – what we are really looking for is quality legal work, highly satisfied clients and great billing

Niche areas of legal work?
As a firm, are very keen on developing niche areas of law – so if you already have, or want to develop, a niche area of practice – we would love to hear about it.

And amongst the niches we continue to develop is working for a fast growing number of property investors and developers nationwide – and as a result a significant part of our company commercial work is currently for them. Familiarity with this sector and of work for them ranging from partnership agreements and shareholder agreements to loan and other joint-venture documentation is a useful but not an essential attribute of the job.

Salary?
Market rate, dependent on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience

Qualifications?
Qualifications are not essential for this particular role. It’s experience and the ability to run a busy caseload of lease extension work unsupervised, or with minimal supervision, that are important to us.

Full or part-time
The job is available ideally on a full-time, but we will also consider part-time candidates.

Flexible, remote and home working available

“Float” Paralegal/Administrator – Salisbury office – full-time

(No agencies offering inexperienced law graduates please

Are you a law graduate looking for your 1st legal job but without any experience? This brand-new position could really suit you.

Qualifications
The job is suitable for a law or LPC graduate looking for their first role. No previous legal experience is necessary.

The successful candidate will have;

·         excellent English Language skills to ensure accuracy of legal information

·         good numeracy, organisational, time management and IT skills

·         excellent standards of client care and great people and communication skills

·         the ability to work well as part of a team

·         initiative

·         a strong work ethic

·         an ability to stick to strict deadlines

·         a desire to help in the continuing growth of the firm

·         the ability to multi-task under pressure

·         a keen eye for detail

Local candidates only please
We are only interested in candidates who live in, or reasonably close to, the Salisbury area.

The role
The good news for us is that our work continues to grow. But with our teams working at near capacity, we are increasingly finding they need additional help from time to time.

So we have created a brand-new role – a float paralegal/administrator. The job does what it says on the tin. It’s a combination of paralegal and admin work, providing support and assistance for whichever of our teams needs it. It could be anywhere, doing anything within a busy law firm.

You could find yourself sitting behind Counsel at an inquest, answering the phones, organising court documents or opening files, for example.

Our commitment to you
In our view, too many law firms are not open enough with their paralegals – over promising and under delivering. We won’t do that.

So let’s make it clear from the outset. This is not a pure paralegal role and there is no guarantee that it will turn into one for you.

However we make this commitment to you.

1.    We take our paralegals and their training very seriously.

That’s why we developed our own Accelerated Development Programme for paralegals – and why you might be surprised to hear that Senior Partner Tim Bishop takes personal responsibility for the Programme. And if you are successful in your application for this job, you will join the programme.

Click here to find out more about our Accelerated Development Programme

2.    We fully expect to continue taking on paralegals for the Programme regularly. Depending on your performance, if you really impress us in this float role, you could be at the top of the list when the next full paralegal position becomes available. It’s in your hands.

Salary?
Dependent on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
