Chartered Legal Executive – Dispute Resolution

Rebecca Smith joined Bonallack & Bishop in January 2024 in the litigation department.  She qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in January 2015 and has many years of experience.  She specialises in property litigation including disputes regarding residential and commercial landlord and tenant, nuisance, trespass, property damage, neighbour disputes, rights of way issues and adverse possession.

Rebecca also has years of experience in debt recovery including recovery of service charge arrears.  She has a natural flair for dispute resolution and has settled a number of cases at mediation, conducted with and without a mediator present.

Outside of work Rebecca spends time training and walking her new cocker spaniel puppy.  She also has a passion for live music performances and attends as many live music events as she can fit in to her spare time.  She is also trying to master paddleboarding.

CLIENT REVIEWS

Here’s what happy client, Robert Nichols, had to say about working with Becky on a leasehold dispute – just 1 of our happy clients

“I engaged Bishop Law during my property sale to help with my uncooperative co-freeholder. Rebecca Smith dealt with my query quickly and efficiently, and dealt with my co-freeholder professionally and firmly. The issue was resolved within a week. Highly recommended service”.

And another great review from a client called David Keeble:

“During Q1 2024 I engaged Rebecca Smith at B&B to assist me with progressing and resolving a very problematic single storey house extension at my property. The builder company in question which is a national name, was proving to be combative and in denial as to the extent of build out problems delivered by its subcontractors. I chose B&B from the Law Society database which identified the firm as having residential property litigation experience. Rebecca is a Chartered Legal Executive with experience in dispute resolution.

Rebecca was able to engage with the building company on my behalf and managed them to desist from offering weak or ineffectual proposals and making unsupported nonsensical counter claims against myself. Rebecca was also able to engage directly with building control who would not deal with me directly, which uncovered further sources of build out issues which eventually resulted in a structured remediation plan and approach.

Rebecca’s approach was one of getting a practical resolution and not rack up avoidable legal time. This often required her arrange 1:2:1 telephone calls with the 3rd parties involved to seek direct clarification when written approach was becoming frustrated or divergent.

The building company eventually delivered a full remediation schedule of works and with the oversight of building control delivered the extension I contracted for in accordance with building regulation sign offs.”
